Berg Katze is an androgynous shape-shifting alien hailing from the deep reaches of outerspace.

Formerly a member of the Gatchaman team, Katze is sometimes referred to as the "Bad Gatcha" amongst those hunting him. He defies order and reaps chaos wherever he goes solely out of enjoyment. Katze is a crude bastard who enjoys seeing pain and suffering despite his quirky playfulness. He's child-like in that aspect but twice as cruel.

Katze's fondness for chaos is allegedly stemmed from loneliness as told by Gatchaman rookie, Hajime. He's always searching for someone to "play with" and apparently has a deep appreciation of schaudfreude. Katze also seems to greatly enjoy snatching the forms of other people. He likes to prance about as his victims and enjoys raising hell as his form of merrymaking. It's suggested by O.D that Katze is too much of a coward to do things himself so he always steals the bodies of others. This might be true since Katze rarely allows himself to be seen. He often hovers about cloaked in invisibility inciting the actions of others. Katze hardly ever does anything himself but he made an exception when O.D and Joe challenged him.

There's almost no redeeming qualities about Katze as a person. He's selfish, cruel, and overall annoying. The alien is known to swear and curse whenever he's angered and will lashout violently if pushed into a corner. Still, there's this odd child-like aspect to Katze is a tad jarring. He's only seen eating candy and usually smiling all goofily like some hyperactive five year old. Katze doesn't quite act his age. He's terribly immature and self-centered but he's also quite funny and oddly charming. There's something mysterious about Katze that honestly sucks you in. He's engimatic and exciting. Katze is the type of person who makes being 'bad' look so appealing and he's unapologetically bad too. Katze's endless self-confidence is just as sexy as his cruelty.

Berg Katze enjoys getting negative reactions from others. He loves teasing and humiliating his victims but his main strength is manipulation. A fragile mind is easy prey for this magenta monster. He'll warp someone's desire to do good and force them to do terrible things. One such example of this is displayed in his relationship with Rui Ninomiya.

Despite Katze's michevious and reckless nature, he's still capable of feeling fear and is at his most dangerous when backed into a metaphorical corner. He turns from playful to viscous in a heartbeat. It's better to stay clear of him when he's like this. Murderous rage aside, it's actually capable of capturing and coaxing him to surrender with suitable force or harm. Just as Hajime in the series managed to subdue Katze, it's possible to defeat him.

Powers and Abilities: In terms of power and abilities, Katze is ridiculously powerful even in his canon universe. He won the metaphorical lotto when it comes down to special abilities and that might be because of his alien lineage.

Katze has the unique ability to shape shift. He can transform into anyone he desires with just a simple peck on the lips. It's not explained thoroughly as of how he does it but Katze can shape shift with relative ease. While he might not be able to mimic their voices or speech patterns well, Katze easily mimic their DNA from a kiss.

He can also steal his victims powers or abilities and use them with ease. To learn more about that just read some of the examples listed here.

Not only is Katze a shapeshifter but he's also capable of flight and can legitimately walk upside down. Much like Lewis Carroll's Cheshire cat, Berg Katze can float weightlessly with ease and even turn invisible just like that classic character. The Gatchamen can all cloak their presence from normal people but Katze is the only one who can hide himself from fellow Gatchaman. His power of invisibility is directly related to the NOTE he processes.

The NOTES are special tools that allow the Gatchaman to transform or tap into their powers. It's believed that Katze can remain invisible even when donning his G-suit, that this power is something unique to his NOTE.

Berg Katze is also capable of phasing through walls like an apparition. Solid objects mean nothing to him and he can literally walk through any hard substance with ease. He's also capable of teleportation that allows him to traverse miles with a single leap. Again, by Gatchaman standards--Berg Katze is insanely powerful.
